  My Year

My year at H. Lloyd Hill in a summary.

I began my mentorship in the month of September at H. Lloyd Hill Architects. They are located on Green Street in one of the old Historic buildings, and when I saw it, I was instantly excited to get to work.

My first two months were quite strenous in the phsycial activites department. Boxes and plans needed to be moved around and sorted, and I was perfect for the job. After everything was sorted and moved into the basement, I was then given less physical tasks such as putting rubberbands on plans and moving them around a little if needed. I actually enjoyed these tasks immensely because while I was undoing and sorting, I was able to learn and understand the dynamics/makeup of the plans.

Around December, my mentor allowed me to start practicing AutoCAD on the computer next to his. At first, I would have to call him over for every single thing. Within a month, however, I was able to perform moderately complex tasks. For the rest of the year, I have been primarily working with AutoCAD, and I am capable of editing most of the jobs that need last minute touches.

The experience I have received is one that I do not take for granted, and I am excited about my future career.
